What’s happening at Climate Week NYC? 🏙️
Climate Week NYC is rapidly approaching, with its first event on Sunday, September 22nd. Since 2009, government officials, business leaders, city representatives, and climate leaders come together for a week to drive climate decision-making and accelerate change in the climate sector. Climate Week NYC is hosted by Climate Group, an international non-profit whose mission during this week is to drive fast and effective climate action.
Climate Group planted the flag, but anyone and everyone in climate descends on New York to host and attend their own functions. With 600+ events, this year’s Climate Week is a unique opportunity to learn more about the newest climate solutions, hear from industry leaders on new climate work, and talk to other folks interested in helping create a greener and more sustainable planet 🌍 😊.

Key Themes at Climate Week NYC 2024:
This year, Climate Week NYC aims to tackle a few key themes across many sessions. These include:
⏰It’s Time- This year’s Climate Week theme is It’s Time. There’s no clearer way to put it - it’s gotta be now for climate action. 2024 was the warmest year ever recorded, which was previously 2023, so this Climate Week focuses on breaking the barriers that block industry change and joining forces to scale the key transitions to make Earth a more sustainable place. It’s time to lead climate policy change and drive innovative climate decisions that will help save our planet.
The New Industrial Revolution- The shift to a greener economy from a fossil fuel-based economy will heavily impact and slow down the process of climate change.
🌱Nature, Food Systems, and Health- Climate change is recognized as the largest public health crisis. Focusing on health solutions and food systems will be instrumental in helping solve this.
The Energy and Transport Transition- Energy systems and transportation are some of the largest global emitters. How can we better prepare for challenges that may appear in decarbonizing interrelated systems?
🌎Leadership and Green Growth- All transitions need scaled financial solutions and technologies. A few sessions will look at new and existing financial models, and how there can be collaboration between the private sector and all types of governments.
Among these themes, there will be other events that cover a range of topics. There is something for everyone!
