Climate Week: Coming to a City Near You (Yes, Even Yours) 😃

Los Angeles’s first climate week (can you believe it?!), September 8th to the 15th, will bring disparate stakeholders together in a decentralized week of events... Today, we’ll share a few can’t-miss events and what the week has in store for our climate aficionados.

What is Climate Week? Don’t be a Fossil Fool! 🤔

There are a lot of us who care about climate change and want to do something about it. But most of us are working in our own silos. LA Climate Week is about bringing everyone together to talk about what we’re doing, what else can be done, and open-source efforts. Practically speaking, Climate Week will be filled with panels, climate conversations, how to get climate jobs, professional advice, community workshops, networking events, and more.

Los Angeles is hosting their first climate week starting September 8th. This week is dedicated to decentralizing and democratizing local initiatives and as the website highlights, LACW is, “created for the community, by the community”. The LACW organization committee is executing its own events, however, many local independent community groups are sponsoring events too, making this climate week a little different than most. A few events include a Women's networking hike, a communal plant dye party, and workshops on pivoting into the climate industry. These events cover everything from art, climate justice, climate finance, career development, fashion, and more. There’s something for everyone with over 100 organizations involved, 75+ events, and +5,000 attendees. You can attend only one event or as many as you want, it’s up to you and your climate goals/passions! Nearly every event is free.

What’s Happening in Your City? Fuel the Future! 🌍

As Climate Weeks continue to gain momentum and popularity in major cities, let's take a look at what other cities are doing to increase climate solution awareness.

  • Chicago Climate Tech Week: Sept 16-20. Tickets here.

  • Climate Week NYC: Sept 22-29. Here is an event tracker.

  • SF Climate Week: April 2025

We don’t want another echo chamber! What LA hopes to get right about Climate Week is the increased collaboration between community members and organizations. This makes it extremely accessible to chat through climate solutions. LACW has so many events that cover such different interests, very uniquely LA 😉. Chicago Climate Tech Week, you guessed it, focuses on Climate Tech, though this may not interest all groups of climate-interested folks. Climate Week NYC has over 600 events this year 🤯. That makes it pretty hard to pick the right ones to attend… What do you think makes an impactful Climate Week?
