About the Summit 🎞️
Culture is one of the biggest drivers of change. If you want to shift behavior, adoption, and decisions, start with culture and content. We’re big believers that when a whole host of minds unite over their climate values, they can double down on their impact, and reshape narratives from gloom and doom to optimism and justice.
The HCS brings together entertainment professionals and climate people from all sorts of sectors through high-energy events and creative partnerships. Check out their site for a recap of past summits, and get a sense for the range of attendees and their industries.
This isn't just about networking, it's about leveling up climate knowledge, teeing up collaborations, and building strategies to scale positive change through storytelling. Hosted in partnership with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Summit convenes over 3,000 entertainment and media professionals from 65+ countries, both in person in Los Angeles and online. Together, we’re proud to support action toward a healthier planet!
Looking for a taste of what sorts of events they’ll have to offer? Check out this YouTube playlist for coverage of some of last year’s hit events.
The events this year are more expansive than ever. Join us to chat about things like the year’s best TV shows with environmental themes, sneak peaks of upcoming hits, and breaking down key messaging strategies from industries like music, gaming and more. Some of our favorites from the schedule so far include:
- A panel on how Grey’s Anatomy has shed light on the climate crisis
- A lunch and learn with highly esteemed climate scientists
- Exploring the role of advertising and entertainment in the climate movement
- A Q&A on how music can mobilize the movement
Lights, Camera, Climate Action 🎥
In a year where community is an especially important pillar to the climate movement, the HCS was created to help one another scale our positive change. In fact, this year, the final day will be coined as “Community Day,” where folks can deepen their connections, and of course, enjoy a sweet closing party.
The entertainment industry isn't just for entertainment. Films, content, and creativity are essential to building more compelling narratives around the climate crisis, and keeping us better informed on critical issues. According to Pew, nearly half of Gen Z social media users and about 40% of millennials are using their feeds to engage with climate content.
The Yale Program on Climate Change Communication found that 70% of Americans reported increased concern about climate change after watching a climate-themed film, underscoring the medium's power to influence public perception.
Looking for a fresh source of climate optimism for your social feed? Each year we team up with Harvard C-CHANGE to spotlight rockstar climate creators. These folks are a masterclass in using social media to combat misinformation and inspiring climate action. If you want to laugh, learn, find hope, or rock out to some great (sneakily informative) music, check out this year’s list to give your feed an optimistic climate makeover!
