Diamonds Out of Thin Air

Thanks for Piquing Behind the Curtain this week for your weekly positive climate solution. Today, we take a look at a shiny startup ready to change the gemstone game and announce a list of creators reshaping the conversation on climate!

Aether Diamonds: Diamonds Out of Thin Air

💎*Bling, Bling*💎 📱”Hello?”📱

“Who is it?”

“It’s sustainably-sourced diamonds calling. They say that we can stop mining the Earth now.”

Mining is the fifth largest industry in the world. Diamond mining specifically disrupts ecosystems by digging up earth and releasing CO2 into the atmosphere. Aether Diamonds is transforming the way we produce diamonds while repairing the historical damage from the mining industry.

By using carbon that was removed from the air, Aether creates diamonds chemically identical to ones dug up from the ground - without damage to the earth.

2022 Climate Creators to Watch

Climate misinformation is one of the biggest risks to making progress on the climate crisis. In partnership with the Center for Climate, Health, and the Global Environment at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health (Harvard Chan C-Change), we are thrilled to have selected 16 Climate Creators to Watch in 2022!

These creators were chosen for their original, entertaining, and educational content surrounding the topic of climate and for bringing attention to the solutions that will save the planet.

Kip Pastor, our CEO and Founder has this to say about the 2022 Climate Creators, “It can be a challenge to find climate content that’s actually entertaining and educational. We built this list so that more people can benefit from the solutions-oriented content that these creators are making and to bring their work to a wider audience.”

Congratulations to those selected! Keep creating, encouraging, and sharing the positive climate content we all could use more of.

Fracking For Clean Energy. Wait, What? - Cleo Abrams

Fracking is an energy extraction practice that allows oil and gas to escape from production pipes, causing all of us (including the Earth) to pay the price. But geothermal practices offer a hopeful twist that could be the key to unlocking a genuinely clean source of energy - and Cleo Abrams is here to tell us what it is.

Every week we share recommendations from readers about climate content to watch or read. This week’s rec comes from Veronica Tsvok

  • 2040 - Concerned about the future of his young daughter, filmmaker Damon Gameau travels the world in search of new approaches and solutions to fight climate change. He meets with experts and changemakers in different environmental fields and weaves together a story that is both global and personal.
