CalWave: Unlocking the Power of the Ocean

What if we could harness the power of waves?

That’s what CalWave is doing, which has built a wave energy converter to unlock this untapped power source.

The hope is that wave power could be a good counterbalance to wind and solar. Since it produces at night, peaks during the winter and is available during storms & cloudy days; wave power could solve a number of intermittency issues.

Consider this: an average wave has more than 35,000 horsepower per mile of coastline and over 50% of the US population lives within 50 miles of the coastline.

Wave hello to the future of clean energy.

For our next episode, we got our chips cashed in, and we’re truckin’ with Remora Carbon, whose device captures the carbon emissions from a semi-truck. But it’s not just good for the planet, it’s good business too - Remora then sells the captured CO2 to other companies such as concrete producers.

We profile the trio of Co-Founders, Eric Harding, Paul Gross and Christina Reynolds, who all serve as Co-CEOs too.

The trend of fashion is causing a climate and environmental nightmare - millions of tons of clothing textile waste are winding up in landfills and the production of new plastics is driving up emissions.

In comes Ambercycle, which is deploying a proprietary type of recycling, that separates materials at the molecular level. They’re enabling the circular economy of textiles and making a more sustainable future of fashion possible.

Every week we'll share recommendations from readers about climate films and documentaries to watch. This week’s rec comes from Clare Hamilton.
