The Problem: Fashion is TOO Fast
Fast fashion is the rapid production and consumption of inexpensive clothing. The process has gained immense popularity in recent years - but this trend comes at a high cost to the environment. The fast fashion industry contributes to significant environmental degradation through excessive water consumption, chemical pollution, and the generation of massive textile waste. The equivalent of one garbage truck full of textiles is landfilled or incinerated every second globally, according to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation.
Evrnu: The Tech in Action 💪 ⚡
One startup is leading charge by offering sustainable alternatives. Co-founded by Stacy Flynn and Christopher Stanev, Evrnu is driven by a vision of a circular economy where waste is minimized, and resources are conserved. Through their groundbreaking technology, the company is addressing the environmental impact of fast fashion head-on.
Evrnu's innovative process involves collecting discarded textiles and utilizing advanced purification techniques to extract valuable fibers from them. These fibers are then transformed into a 3D printed fiber, capable of integrating seamlessly into the supply chain. Notably, this process requires no additional land or extraction of oil, effectively reducing carbon emissions and conserving natural resources.
