A few weeks ago, The World Bank, African Development Bank and dozens of leaders from across Africa gathered to discuss bringing electricity to 300 million people across the continent. The plan, a whopping $35 billion investment called Mission 300, is geared toward building local solar sites (like minigrids) in rural, developing areas. It’s the biggest burst of electricity spending in Africa’s history, and a huge commitment to clean energy.
